Default Bedtime Stories

We have lots of books for my two year old daughter-seventy or more. But only two of them are really suitable for bedtime-the others get her too excited.

Anyone have any recommendations? We currently have "Goodnight Moon" and Suess' bedtime story book.

We have two favourites in our house-Guess How Much I Love You, By Sam McBratney, and I Love You Forever, by Robert Munch. The first is very much in the lines of Goodnight Moon (which we also love)-it's a feel good classic. The later is a book that makes me cry almost every time I read it. It's beautiful, so touching. There is a little poem-a song the mother sings, every few pages that I set to a tune and sing to my daughter.

It's a very cuddly and loving book and it's nice to read as we settle down at night.

I had honestly not given any consideration to anything quite so serious as Poe. I am not sure in truth that she is ready for his brand of the macarbre, and detective stories. Even his poems-they might be a little better, but still I think are a little far reaching for her. Thanks for the thought though.

It was tongue in cheek.

I would not have realised that either, sorry. When I read your post it seemed quite serious. It is such a shame that text cannot convey such sentiments, so comments such as that are bound to be misunderstood Lloyd.
