Thumbs up The Teenage Liberation Handbook

I have just started reading this book, by Grace Llewellyn, and it's terrific! This is the book for anyone who feels the education system isn't meeting their needs, or those of their children. The author makes the bold claim that, if properly equipped, children can do a far better job educating themselves than school, and the book contains dozens of examples of unschooled children and teenagers who are doing just that.

I would like to know if the author went to school or not.

Actually you may be surprised to find that she was actually a school teacher for three years. So I think that her view point has a certain relevance to the issue of education.

Actually, I spent some time researching her and I would not let her take care of my dog . . . . but I love my dog.

I would be very interested to hear what made you come to that conclusion. I have, so far, not found anything that put me off but then I might have been reading the wrong things.

And still, I maintain separation between author and subject; no matter how loopy an author might be, it won't necessarily put me off the subject.

Loopy is a very good adjective.

Why would I read a book written by a whacko? Just to add to her statistics that people support her insane ideas?
