Default Respect

A child lives what it learns.

Why is it that so many parents fail to take that into consideration when they treat their children the way they do? If a child treats you with a lack of respect, it is a safe bet that it is because they do not see or receive respect in the home. Children are human too.

It just makes me sad. I saw a mother out tonight, with a child maybe 2 years old. The boy was trying to get his mother's attention, he wanted to talk to her for some reason. She spanked him, in public, for talking too loud. Of course he started crying, loudly, so she spanked him again for crying!

What do you EXPECT a child to do when you hit them?! They aren't going to be happy about it-if you want them to be quiet, don't make them scream. Seems simple to me.

Sigh.
