I realise that there are certain pulls towards going to the bigger colleges, but I curious as to the standards. If you get the same degree from either a big or a local college, shouldn't it be of the same standard? So therefore in theory each degree should be worth the same right?

I guess it depends on the field you plan on going into.

My daughter had the choice between Columbia and UCLA.

Considering Columbia cost about 3 or 4 times the amount of UCLA, not counting the additional expense of living in NY, UCLA was the one she went with.
