Default Data Retrieval Help

I have an almost dead hard drive that contains about 7000 photos.... I am broke, and have not been able to afford the media to back them up. I am paying for that now, I realise, but truly could not do anything at the time.

I now have a new shiny pc. But the new drive is SATA and my old is EIDE. I know that the photos are still there because I was able to achieve limited access through a floppy boot of linux, but that wouldn't run the CD writer and so I couldn't get the stuff off there.

Anyway, I am sure that with access, I can save these. But, I need a way to access my EIDE with a SATA set up.

Does anyone know of a converter?
