I am new to linux arena, as I had been using windows since past 10 years. I wanted to shift my areas of working to unix and linux. Can anyone guide me that which flavor of linux is better for me as I am noobie?

I would say Fedora is more popular than Debian

For beginners I would recommend Ubuntu.
