A lot of people seem to think so. It doesn't make any sense to me, really. For one thing, food addicts eat more when they're depressed, so insulting them is obviously just going to drive them to eat more. No, I say we give overweight people as much love and acceptance as possible. Maybe this will inspire them to love and accept themselves. People who love themselves take better care of themselves, and are less anxious, two very important factors in losing weight. Do you agree? ![]()

Sadly, obesity seems to be the last socially-acceptable form of discrimintaion. Look at television, if shows made fun of black people the way they do overweight people, there would be an uproar. There should be an uproar! People only take what they feel they deserve, but sadly, often the self-esteem of obese people is already so shattered, they actually think people have the right to do this to them, or that they don't have what it takes to stop it. This needs to change. Ignorance needs to be confronted.

I agree with everything you have said lilo on this topic. I personally believe that our society puts far too much emphasis on weight to begin with. I have a dear friend who has suffered her whole life with bullemia. She is obsessed with getting "fat" and she wears a size 2.
