Default Stress

I've tried diets, but never been successful. I believe its because of a high level of stress. I've heard many people say stress can cause weight loss/gain, and I've been at 250 for the last year or so, and it seems to go nowheres. Any suggestions?

I went on a diet about a year ago that I was quite successful with, but any diet is really a lifestyle change. Diets alone are just temporary.

I went on a raw food diet . . . man, was that tough.

veggies, fruits, nuts, sushi . . . it was a tough diet, and pretty expensive as diets go as that stuff is never on sale.

How long did you go on that diet for? I can't go 2 days without having some meat, wether its chicken, or a burger, I need meat. That sounds like it would cost an arm and a leg, especially nuts and sushi.

I went on it for about 6 months or so. It wasn't easy by any means, but it did get me to try some of the trendy raw food restaurants around here.

To me, sushi always looks good, but the thought of eating raw fish mixed in with rice and whatever else just doesn't seem that appealing.

I've tried eating more healthily - not so much as a diet but more an attempt to get myself off of the curries, carbonated drinks and alcohol. It made me feel good for a while but I'm sure it cost me twice as much to eat fresh fruit, salads, juices, smoothies and so forth than it did to eat junk

That's the main problem with trying to eat healthily if you are as broke as I am. Healthy foods always tend to cost more - and supermarkets try to tell us that we should be a healthier population than we are?! Try bringing your prices down a little then.

I do like Sushi though. I was never keen on the idea but then I tried it a few years ago and now I always eat it when I can. I do agree that stress can cause both weight loss and weight gain. Personally, when I'm stressed and at home I tend to eat - comfort food I suppose.

I have never tried sushi because I cannot get over the fact that it's raw fish. I am struggling with this subject too. I have been at my heaviest, which is 180 for the past six months, until recently. It started when I got married. I went in three years from a size 6 at 125-130 pounds, all the way to a size 16 at 180 pounds. The best thing would be to eat right, with 5 small meals a day. If you eat 5 small meals your metabolism will stay about the same throughout the day, you will feel less need to snack, and it will also keep your blood sugar regulated. Also exercise, whether it be walking 500 extra steps a day, or doing some other form of cardio. I have lost ten pounds in the past month by eating right and exercising for just 30 minutes a day.
