Default Allergy Season

Allergies are headed our way, what medicine are you going with? I usually use allegra, but since I lost my health insurance, I gotta go with something cheap and over the counter this year. I've tried claritin before but no luck. This time I might try Alavert this time around.

ah your lucky. I work outside with all the dust and pollen at night which makes it 10x worse, I'm in for for a long spring if something isn't done.

Benadryl works at night best, since it causes drowsiness. During the day try something that has Sudephedrine in it. Just beware the ones that cause drowsiness. Everything acts that opposite on my body, so medicine that says it will make you sleepy, will actually keep me wired. I've tried Claritin also, and it doesn't work. If you had insurance, I'd suggest Zyrtec, but you don't. Have you ever thought about looking into Ameriplan, they have cheap benefits. They can save you quite a bit. That's what we are going to have to do because my husband changed jobs and we lost our insurance.

Ameriplan, I'll check them out and let you know what I find.

Yesterday I had allergies real bad in the morning, it looked like I was crying for a few hours, my throat was closing/swelling and I couldn't breathe. Called the doctor and told him I'd be there at 2, but after a few hours, I felt like it was getting better, so I called it off. Now its fine.

You better be careful. Mine have been flaring up pretty bad to. I had to get some Sudephed today. I tried some other one, but it didn't work.

I use sudaphed when I get a cold or I'm really sick. It helps alot, and theres one for night that puts you to sleep. However, I never knew there was one for allergies. I'll take a look next time I go to the grocery market.

I think Im going to try to go organic with my allergy remedies. I want to see if I can come up with a better way of handling my allergies without being all drugged up.

I am fortunate enough to not have allergies other than drug allergies. I cannot take aspirin or Vicodin.

I try to avoid drugs altogether if I can. I used to be very bad with my allergies, and at that time because I couldn't cope, I chose to treat the symptoms rather than using a systemic treatment. I had eye drops that stopped the swelling and itching and a nasal spray that stopped the sneezing and the running. It controlled it very well-as well as the drugs I took the previous years.
