The advantage of banner advertising is that even if they don't click, they see it, so your branding has begun.

Not everyone runs out and buys a Coke or Dodge every time they see the commercial, but it is there in the back of their minds when the time to make the purchase comes about.

I agree if you aren't careful with ppc you will find yourself sucked dry. you have to monitor your campaign everyday. and make sure that it is doing what you want it to do and not just spending your money.

Pay per click is a good way. Link exchange also works. I would hav it listed in the big search engines though. Then when people search for what you have to offer, they can actually find you.

I use a couple of autosurf sites to advertise my site and to make a couple of bucks while I'm at it.

One of the best ways to advertise is to make a banner. Make is eye-catching, and even if people don't want to visit your website, they know about it.

Word of mouth is also a good advertising strategy, but you have to make it something people will want to talk about.

Link exchanges are another method, although my experience with link exchanges has not been successful.

Also, you might want to track where people are coming from. What pages are referring them the most, and what location they are from? Doing this can help you decide which method of advertising is most efficient for you.

I would have to agree with these as my first choice for advertising. many of these do not cost any money or if they do it is very minimal. They are very effective and work well.

Digital Boards is also a very cost effective method.

For a minimal price you get listed in our hand built directory, with a custom full page ad, you get a blog entry, podcast, press release and signature benefits in our forums.

Please feel free to PM me, or visit Digital Board Ads for more info.

If there is any confusion in how this works, let me know and I will send you a pdf tour so you can see it in action.

As we are new it could be difficult to grasp, but our price takes our "newness" into consideration.

signatures in forums
word of mouth
google adwords.

Word of mouth advertising works well for me. I remember I created a forum in my high school and with word of mouth communication there were 300 people registered on that forum within a week!
