Default Favorite Forum Software

I spend much of my time either posting in another community or creating forums for my communities. I usually use invision power board, but I only have two ipb purchases so I use it on two of my communites. On my other sites I use phpBB, but it does lack a lot of features. On the plus side it is open source and has a lot of mods for it.

The main reason why I choose IPB is it has a lot of features and the skinning possibilites are fantastic. I spend a lot of time on my sites getting a decent skin, with the help of others. Also there may be less mods, but the ones that do exist seem to have great quality and are easy to install. The one feature of IPB I really use is the subscritptions mod. Where a user pays for a subscription and within seconds there account is upgraded with no work fro the admin. I am interested in learning what everone else prefers to use and why.

I think it is pretty obvious which we prefer.

I also love IPB. I have adminned several sites over the past decade and have run everything from bravenet forums, through vbullitin and personally written forum software too. But nothing quite touches IPB for the scalability. You want something for your forum, you can get it through IPB.

The support is good, skinning potential is excellent and easy too. I love it.
