Default phpBB or vbullitin

i know that this forum is using a very nice skin and vbulletin board software for forum. I was generally inquisitive about knowing that which forumsoftware would be best for me to host a forum. I dont have a very big budget though!!

Of course, vBulletin is better.

I really don't think it's fair to compare phpBB to vBulletin. phpBB is free and vBulletin is not. I guess it's better to compare phpBB to SMF.

If you create a new thread, it becomes pretty clear if you look at Additional Options

I am registered in 2 and regular participate in 1 phpBB forums and find it quite good - just as good as this one in my opinion. I have not hosted one before, though, so I cannot say from a hosting point of view, but I think that for a free software, phpBB is very good.

I also use the open source shopping cart Zen Cart for my webstore and love it. Open source software seems to be catching on and improving very quickly these days as brand name program prices keep rising. And it doesn't help that every year software companies keep coming out with upgrades that cost you another $100-200. With open source, it's always free.
