I learned too late that I could have had insurance from my electric company against surges blowing out my equipment. My home owners insurance will cover the damaged goods, but I am going to look into this.

I would be more concerned with insurance for lightning surges than electric company.

I have only had one electric company surge that damaged anything and they took care of it with very little effort.
