Default Spca

I visit the SPCA a few times a year, just to see the animals that are there. Its ashame that so many of these pets are good and warm hearted, and just dealt a bad hand. I wish I could save some, but I know it wouldn't be fair to any I adopt because the lack of time I have to spend with him/her. I have one golden retreiver I've rescued almost 5 years ago, I think its one of the best things I've ever done.

Who else here has adopted/rescued one ?

I rescued my dog from Indiana. I show him the weather reports from back there and he always looks back at me in appreciation.

He is lucky, it is cold and windy right now.

I have not directly adopted from the ASCPA because there is not one close to where we live. I have taken in many strays though. I have a Shar Pei and Pit mix that came to my house this last summer. We adopted him because he is a nice dog with an excellent attitude towards children. We named him Stranger. We also received a call from a woman three years ago asking if we would like to adopt a Mini Pin, we gladly accepted the offer. Her name is Weasel. Then we just recently adopted a Bull Mastiff mix puppy from Walmart. We named the puppy Rocky.

aww, you must have a full house of love. How do the pets get along with each other?

I've never owned more then 2 dogs at the same time, but they weren't the best of friends, the dalmation was overweight and always ate the other's food.

They all get along pretty well. My Mini Pin stays in the house with two cats. She gets along great with them. The youngest cat will be a year old on the 19th of this month and she always plays with him. They take turns chasing each other thrugh the house. She also gets along really well with the outside dogs. We are just one big happy family.

We don't have an SPCA per se around here, but there IS a no-kill shelter not too far away, and they spay and neuter all the animals they get in. Good place to get a pet.

I adopted a kitty from the local humane society. He was with me from the day I took a new house, to the time my first born was about two months old when the jealous little man started attacking her. Every time she moved he pounced on her-normal kitty behaviour, he was just going for a moving thing I think. So he went back to the humane society and was rehomed about two weeks later.

I am sorry to hear that you had to give up your kitty. Every animal has it's own distinct personality, and some just do not like children. As hard as it must have been I am sure it was best for your child.
