I'm looking at booking a holiday sometime next year for me and the other half somewhere in Europe, though haven't been able to decide where to go. We do have to be sensible as money is a little tight what with all our commitments, but at the same time we do like to treat ourselves when we go away. We've done Paris and the Costa Blanca in Spain, so where next? I've been looking at Italy, particularly Rome and Venice, though I'm open to any other suggestions anyone might have. Prague looks nice and cheap, though I am a little concerned about what there is to do there. A nice blend of culture and sun would be ideal, but I'm open to suggestions. We're looking at a one week trip with enough to keep us occupied and a reasonably comfortable hotel. Any suggestions are more than welcome. I would prefer to book online and perhaps even leave it right up until the last minute to try and get a good deal, though it would be nice to have some idea of where we want to go!

I am planning on doing Europe for the first time this year . . . if I can fit it in with all my other travel obligations. As I have many friends in Germany and Switzerland that will have to be my destination, or they will kill me. ![]() I have many friends that have visited Prauge and thought it was great, but I think it may have had as much to do with the pretty women as the tourist attractions. What is interesting is that when we came up with this category we were thinking more along the lines of the American version of holidays (ie: New Years, Thanksgiving, Christmas). I had not even remembered that in Europe, holiday has a little different meaning. I have moved this to the travel forum as it is more appropriate. Don't take it personal. ![]()

Not a problem - you'll have to forgive me for being English! I too have heard one or two stories about the women in Prague, and I also happen to know that a pint of beer there is about 90c, so perhaps the cultural highlights aren't the only reason so many visit there... ![]() I've never really thought of Germany as a travel destination - I just don't really know what to associate with it other than sausages and good quality beer! Is there much to do there in the way of sightseeing or places worth visiting?

Their close proximity to Amsterdam would just be an additional perk. I have heard that there are some other cool places, such as St Pauli that would be worth visiting. | |

I have friends who live near Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico - and actually take their RV to Europe!!! The world is getting smaller and smaller every day. Who would ever have thought that Americans would be leaving their home in Mexico to go camping in Europe???
